Policy & Advocacy

As the state-wide oral health coalition, policy and advocacy work is integral to the mission of OHCO.  Through the revised Colorado Oral Health Plan, to be released early in 2012 and the OHCO Strategic Plan, OHCO identifies public or private policies that can be developed in order to positively impact the oral health of all Coloradans.  Right now, Governor John Hickenlooper has identified oral health as one of the ten “winnable battles” for Colorado.  Oral health advocates have a unique opportunity to collaborate with the Governor and state agencies to develop a strong, viable and sustainable system that will meet the oral health needs of all Coloradans—particularly those who have limited access to comprehensive care.
