Oral Health Colorado (OHCO) is a coalition of advocates representing a wide range of public, private and non-profit organizations committed to advancing oral health in Colorado. Because OHCO is a coalition—and indeed in many ways a “coalition of coalitions”—the populations served are diverse and will interact with OHCO in a number of ways.
- The Stakeholder/Advisory Council of OHCO is made up of “parent” organizations (Colorado Dental Association, Colorado Dental Hygiene Association, Colorado Community Health Network, Clinic Net, Colorado Association for School Based Health Care, Colorado Department of Healthcare Policy and Financing, Rural Health Centers, Early Childhood Councils, Councils on Aging, The School of Dental Medicine, etc.), many of which have representatives or members throughout the state. As OHCO participates in statewide initiatives, the Stakeholder/Advisory Committee will leverage the number of organizations and individuals who engage in the initiative by reaching out to constituents.
- OHCO standing committees and task forces will collaborate with coalition partners to create a positive environment for oral health initiatives and assure that messaging around the importance of oral health is clear and consistent.
- Most importantly, community coalitions will provide leadership and establish strong relationships in local communities, taking into consideration the unique cultural components of each community. Through community coalitions, OHCO will be able to affect public policy, collaborate on statewide initiatives involving oral health, and educate communities on oral health issues.
